If we go by the spec sheet, the way the interior is put together, the styling outside and the powertrain underneath, Lincoln is making a serious run at rewriting the book of crossover. It also gets adjustable ambient lighting, a passive entry system first seen on the MKS, push button start, reverse camera, a capless fuel filler, dual head rest DVD players, rear seat window blinds, heated and air conditioned perforated leather seats, light up sill plates, and power lift rear hatch (obviously). Based on our experience with available Lexus system, we'll believe it when we test it. As we mentioned, there's a voice activated navigation system equipped with Sirius Travel Link, adaptive cruise control with collision mitigation which can pre-charge the brakes in anticipation of a crash, blind spot detection system, rear sonar and cross traffic detection (you're prompted with a warning if traffic approaches from the sides as you back out of a parking spot), and the piece d'resistance, automatic parking that finds a spot, directs you into place and does the rest of the work for you. The whole cabin stays airy with a fixed or sliding moon roof.īut what about those wonderful gadgets? The options list on the MKT reads like a techno-geek's wish list. Back seats are comfy for adults but best kept for the kids (when they aren't off at boarding school), they will offer a power folding option shortly after the start of production. You can get a 60/40 folding bench in the back, but that cuts down on the wow-factor and eliminates the rear seat refrigerator.
